For those who prefer an established major-brand webcam, the Logitech C922 / C922x is a solid performer for head tracking in good lighting. It supports 720p at 60 FPS and performed well in our head tracking tests when lighting conditions were sufficient.
However, it performed poorly in our dim-light test. We observed the frame rate fall from 60 FPS to only around 12–15 FPS, together with a very dark image, making it unusable for head tracking under those conditions. Adequate room lighting is therefore important when using this webcam for high-frame-rate head tracking.
